The primary mission of LILT is Cancer Prevention .
There are two types of prevention: primary prevention and secondary prevention.
Secondary prevention: consists early diagnosis, that is, tests designed to identify training pretumotali or cancer at an early stage. The goal is to reduce mortality, improve quality of life of cancer patients and invasiveness of interventions. LILT is engaged in the secondary prevention with:
The Pink Ribbon Campaign which provides tests for the detection of breast cancer
I 390 surgeries ; Provincial Departments of carrying out diagnostic tests all year and for several types of cancer.
Primary prevention: is the identification of risk factors that could cause the onset of the disease and its reduction or elimination. Is accomplished through the ' health education and correct information . For this reason, the LILT promotes European Code Against Cancer .
